Yes, the wait is finally over! As I was casually strolling around the drugstore, I suddenly came across this new lip product by Maybelline. I was really excited so it was definitely hard to keep my composure since I’ve been eyeing this Vivid Matte Liquid lipstick for the longest time now. As always, it comes as no surprise that new products will most likely launch very last in The Netherlands. But hey, better late than never right?!
I’ve already heard and read a lot of great things about this new product but have never tried it myself, so I have pretty high expectations to begin with. Now that I am finally able to get my hands on these lippies, I immediately bought all 5 shades I love, there are in total 10 shades to choose from. Although the drugstores that I’ve been to, here in The Netherlands, only carries 7 shades in their collection.
From left to right we have 50 Nude Thrill, 05 Nude Flush, 45 Possessed Plum, 30 Fuchsia Ecstasy and 25 Orange Shot.
I love the sleek design of this packaging; it’s simple but chic at the same time. What I appreciate the most are the clear containers; it makes it so much easier to pick out the right shade in one go. Also this liquid lipstick has the perfect size to easily throw in your purse without taking up too much space.
All shades have a light mixture of floral and vanilla scent to them, nothing too overwhelming I would say. This liquid lipstick has a long and skinny dove foot applicator. The dove foot applicator feels pretty stiff on the lips, but due to the pointy tip it provides a great control when applying these lip colors.
All these shades are nice and pigmented; it glides on smoothly on the lips and doesn’t feel sticky nor does it feel heavy on the lips. This product claim to have a matte finish, which I totally disagree. This liquid lipstick has a more semi velvety finish with a subtle sheen to it, which is beautiful if you would ask me, but it definitely doesn’t dry to a matte finish. If you do want to achieve that matte finish though, just tap the lips gently between a tissue paper to take away that glossy/sheen look. Mind you, by doing so it will take down the color intensity, so you might want to apply a second layer to achieve the color payoff you desire.
Nonetheless, I am really enjoying these lippies. The one color I really adore using is No.45 in color Possessed Plum. I love wearing this color on its own or I’ll be all Picasso by mixing and matching these colors to create a fitting color to my current mood.
Furthermore, though this product doesn’t claim to be moisturizing, it doesn’t dry out the lips at all, which I think deserves a big thumbs up, don’t you think?
I have been loving these lip products since the moment I got them and have been using them on and off quite often now. They are pigmented and moisturizing and the fact that I can get creative with these colors tops it all off for me.
I bought these lippies for € 6,99 at Kruidvat, a drugstore that’s located in The Netherlands, which is quite affordable I would say.
